Vision, Aims and Values

Burton Green aims to be an outstanding school at the heart of the local community and become the community’s school of choice.

We will strive to be a centre of excellence, where children always come first, where all pupils thrive, learn and develop to the best of their abilities and achieve their highest potential in all areas of a 21st century curriculum, tailored to the needs of our children.

We seek to create a challenging learning environment where expectations and aspirations are high, whilst catering for the unique learning needs of every child.

We will create a safe environment that promotes respect, tolerance and compassion for others, encouraging and supporting children of all abilities to question, be curious, take risks and aspire to be the best they can be.

We will continue to support families in the joys and challenges of parenthood.

We encourage and support all our staff to enable them to develop into outstanding education practitioners.

On leaving Burton Green our pupils will have the resilience, knowledge, skills and degree of personal development they need to succeed as life-long learners, preparing them for the demands of the modern world and become good citizens who contribute to making society a better place.

To help change long term outcomes for our pupils and local community.

We want our children to leave school at 18 years old with the same opportunities as if they had attended the most affluent school in the city and to be fully prepared for whatever the future holds.

To see happy, polite, well behaved children who develop the ability to make the right choices, are tolerant of others and understand the difference between right and wrong.

To develop in all children a resilience, positive self-image, excellent communication and social skills, self-control and strategies for managing their emotions.

Our pupils will develop a caring attitude towards their environment and an awareness of their part in protecting that environment.

To ensure that the interests of parents are considered through partnership, so they are informed and encouraged to share the responsibility for the education of their child and in doing so become an integral part of our school community.

To be a fundamental part of the local community. We want to be actively involved in our local community and we want our local community to be actively involved with the school.

To provide a balanced, varied and exciting curriculum which encourages independent learning and helps nurture our children’s talent.

To deliver teaching and learning which is enjoyable, inspirational, challenging, meets the needs of every single pupil in school and is delivered by professionals who are passionate, keen to expand their own knowledge and have the children at the heart of everything they do.

To provide a safe, supporting and caring environment that focuses on high standards of progress and achievement, attendance, conduct, moral purpose, integrity and concern for others.

To provide clear, passionate and consistent leadership.

We will integrate new children into school and within new phases in a carefully planned way, providing the maximum emotional and educational stability.

We will work proactively with other schools to make our pupils’ journeys from Nursery to GCSE and beyond, a smooth one.

To use the school’s resources wisely, providing the best education we can.

Burton Green will be seen by others as a leading school in the area and all our staff developing as leading professionals.
