Our aim is to foster an enjoyment and appreciation of music through exciting and engaging lessons that develop listening, performing and composing skills.
Furthermore, we aim to encourage self expression and build confidence through music performance and to develop an awareness of different musical styles.
How is Music taught?:
Mr Wilson is a qualified music teacher who teaches music to all classes, from Year 1 to Year 6. Mr Wilson also runs a choir who regularly perform in school and at local events to the wider community.
Music at Burton Green:
Here at Burton Green, all children from Year 1 to Year 6 have a weekly music lesson with a music specialist. We use the online music scheme Charanga Music to deliver our music teaching, which has visual aids and interactive resources to support each child on their musical journey.
Our children love using our new set of glockenspiels, percussion trolley and recorders to take part practically in classroom music lessons as well as singing a wide range of musical styles.
To support our music teaching, all children take part in a whole school singing assembly once a week and have the opportunity to join our school choir who perform at school events and in the local community. We also offer our children the chance to learn a musical instrument such as piano, guitar and drums.
