We work hard to offer lots of first-hand experience from Early Years classes right through to Year 6, with visits and visitors supporting work across the curriculum in all year groups. In Year 6, the children enjoy a residential visit to Kingswood where they take part in lots of adventurous, outdoor activities. We welcome parents supporting us in these activities, in fact we couldn’t give our children these opportunities without your time and support – so thank you!
When school trips are planned it is usual for us to ask for voluntary contributions towards the cost from the parents of pupils involved. However, it is our policy not to exclude children from taking part in such excursions when contributions are not forthcoming due to financial hardship. If you would like to discuss this issue further, please speak to the class teacher or Mrs French.
In addition to the main curriculum, there are activities organised as a valuable extension to the school day, such as cooking club, football club, and homework club. We take part in sporting activities with other schools, work in our community and attend events such as Young Voices and have a partnership with the Theatre Royal, our local councillors and York City Football. If you would like your child to take part in any of these clubs, please ask Mrs Brownhill at the school office.
